Uncouple by Design
A steady way through a separation. It meets you in the first hard days and stays with you until you understand what matters, know your next step, and trust yourself to take it.
A separation hits two ways at once. There’s the grief of it, and then there’s the sheer admin. Children, money, the house, documents, passwords, what to say to him, when to call a lawyer. It usually arrives when you have the least room to think.
By the time most women find me, they’ve already read the articles, joined the groups, and typed every worried question into a search bar at midnight. They don’t need more information. They need someone to help them put it in order.
That’s what this is. Not another pile of things to read. A calm way through, taken one step at a time.
Each part does one job.
You won’t need all of it at once, and there’s no set order. Start wherever you are.
First Steps by Design
Know what matters first.
A short, calm place to begin in the first days and weeks. It helps you steady yourself, check that you and the children are safe, protect the essentials, and see what can genuinely wait, so you can take one next step instead of forty. It’s deliberately not the whole separation education. The first week isn’t the time for that.
Organised by Design
One place for everything that matters.
The documents, the money, the messages, the parenting notes, the timelines, the questions you’re saving up for your lawyer. Held in one calm system instead of your memory. The point isn’t tidy files. It’s the relief of not carrying all of it in your head.

Your next step, whenever a new question turns up.
The questions don’t stop arriving. This is somewhere to come back to when they do: clear, practical guidance on communication, preparing your finances, co-parenting, privacy, and getting ready for the conversations that cost money. Not a course to finish. A place to look things up.
Six stages, held lightly.
Where am I in this, really, and what needs attention now?
Your safety and the children’s. Privacy, identity, the essential money, the key documents.
Records, messages, timelines and questions, out of your head and into a system.
One conversation. One email. One appointment. One question for a professional.
Confidence, identity, self-trust, and what you want the next chapter to hold.
A steadier way of living, well beyond this one transition.
Uncouple by Design isn’t a law firm, and it won’t give you personalised legal, financial, medical or psychological advice. It won’t decide your parenting arrangements, and it won’t tell you whether to stay or go. Those are yours, sometimes with the right professional beside you.
What it does is organise the life happening around all of that, and help you walk into those professional conversations calmer and better prepared.
If safety is a worry. Plenty of separations are civil. Some aren’t, and involve control, monitoring, or the threat of violence. If that’s your situation, your safety comes before anything on this site about organising or keeping records, and nothing here is a substitute for specialist support or emergency services.
